the wait

so rob and i decided to decline on the 2 year old boy since we felt rushed and out intuitions were both telling us that it wasn't the right thing for us to do. it was a hard decision but we leared a lot during the decision period.

1. if we adopt, we should be able to get support for the child even after the adoption is finalized. this means monthly board payments, day care, and college assistance. this is a huge weight off our shoulders and it shows how much the state of nj needs adoptive parents.

2. this case was an adoption only decision, hence the rush. this child was legally available for adoption and as the boy was perfectly healthy, the case worker needed an immediate decision to plan for as few few transitions for the boy as possible.

we also had a great visit with our case worker last night. she let us know that the possibility of m being up for adoption is increasing as her birth family is less and less able to care for her. it's still a long shot at this point but at least things are shifting slowly towards adoption.

there was a court hearing yesterday for m, but there was an adjournment.

so, again, we wait.
