news travels....

so our turkey supper with our case worker gave us some information that seems so hard to come by.  she indicated that in all likelhood that come april court date, maddie would likely be returned to her aunt.  the aunt is doing all of the things that are being asked of her and the judge is very intent on returning maddie to a family member.  needless to say this wasn't what we wanted to hear but thankfully we're getting the news early enough to prepare ourselves for this event.

of course, rob immediately started tearing up and the case worker felt bad for us.  the trajectory of this case was such that it really made it more difficult than it needed to be.  as you'll recall, we only signed up for adoption but then we considered adoption as a dry run to ensure we were ready for a little one.  when they called us with maddie it was supposed to be just a week.  then it was a month.  it's now been 7 months.  then they asked if we'd consider adoption.

obviously the about face is painful but i just keep in mind that everyone wants what's best for the little one and that's the point.
